MCoolSoft Contact2XML is a windows mobile util software to backup and restore windows mobile outlook contacts information with XML file.
The backup is totally independent of the version of Windows Mobile running on the device and independent of the device itself. The backup is also independent of the language used on the device. It works well on all Windows Mobile OS version include WM5.0, WM 6.0, WM6.5 and Windows Phone OS.
Version 3.0 comes with MCoolSoft ContactEditor 1.0 which is an editor of the contacts xml file exported from the Contact2XML.

- Pocket PC 2003
- Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC
- WM6/6.1/6.5 Professional devices
- Smartphone(not tested)

The exe contained in the zip file, should be copied and launched on the pocket pc, and not on a pc.

Good afternoon.
The program I liked, but there are errors in her work:
1. When restoring from a backup program makes all your contacts birth date “01.01.01″ although the field should remain blank. It is a serious obstacle.
2. When you restore contacts lost all pictures attached to contacts. You can do so to join and contact picture remained, like ringtones and not lost during recovery.

Just realised it was this software that made all the changes!
Still, once those problems are fixed it will truly be a GREAT bit of software!
Should be standard on all Win phones.

Backup process works great.
Delete all phone contacts works great too, but
Restore backup xml file fails with this message:
“Restore Error: Native method call failed”
My Phone is a Samsung Omnia with Wm6.1
Any Idea?

Have you edited the xml file after backup? I think it may be the xml file format problem. You can edit the xml file with the ContactEditor and try to backup again.

The xml file was not edited.
I have created another new clean backup to restore it right after the backup, but same message appears.
The good news are that my contacts are not lost, I found a backup from a few weeks ago created with another soft.
To Yao: Me again…
After a HardReset, same error message.
After a ROM upgrade to wm6.5, same error message.
I am really interested in this soft. Can you fix this restore error?

Now the soft works and restore the xml file, but contacts pictures are lost (like Alkor said).
Anyway, for me, this a must-have software in my ppc.

You can download the contacteditor to your pc and open it with your IE or any web browser. It works fine.I am working on the contacts pictures now and it will support the pictures backup and restore in the next version maybe 4.0.Thanks for your supporting.
If I download the contacteditor webpage like html (file and folder) or hmt (unique file), once I shutdown internet conection, the contacteditor (swf) does not appears. But don´t worry, excel can show me the xml file in read-only mode.
